Incepted in 2012, the Breaking Ink team has grown from it's little spot down the hallway in the heart of Hillsboro. We are in our third location, housing dedicated artists, many who are not new to the Portland west-side tattoo scene. We are fortunate to be located in a metro area with the most tattoo shops per capita in the nation. Thus, pushing our standards and abilities. As this constantly burgeoning yet steadfastly sophisticated arts community continues to evolve, we remain consistently eager to make our mark. We are an unconventional start-up, exemplifying the old adage "You can't judge a book by its cover". Breaking Ink is about breaking down barriers and challenging norms. We dare to be different. Not simply for the sake of being different, but rather to encourage expression. We dare to expose the beauty and energy that resonates and connects us all. Thus, when you sit in a Breaking Ink artist's chair, know that we are honored by your willingness to share a piece of who you are with us.
While this is all heavy info, don't worry. We don't take ourselves too seriously. We're a playful little group, committed to a comfortable and exciting shop culture. When you walk into the shop, you'll find the walls decorated with local street art, not any flash designs which are easily duplicable. We'll use the internet, sketch books, custom flash, and other sources to develop your tattoo idea; but ultimately, we will focus on making it an original tattoo unique to you.
